Supriya Sule in Lok Sabha warns that Google Pay and Phone Pe ticking time bombs are ticking time bombs.

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar MP Supriya Sule called Google Pay and Phone Pe “two ticking time bombs” on Friday and asked the government about money laundering.
In a Lok Sabha discussion on ‘The White Paper on Indian Economy’, Ms. Sule called Paytm Payments Bank Ltd. (PPBL)’s actions “very alarming” and nearly like money laundering.

Last month, the RBI ordered PPBL to stop taking deposits or top-ups in user accounts, wallets, FASTags, and other instruments after February 29.
The RBI took strong measures against Paytm after it repeatedly violated regulatory standards despite nudges.

“Google Pay, Phone Pe are two ticking time bombs. BHIM app is hardly used while Google Pay and Phone Pe apps are used (widely). What is the government doing on digital or cashless economy?” Sule stated.

Vijay Kumar Hansdak, JMM leader, accused the government of abusing ED, CBI, and Income Tax on opposition MPs

Mr. Hansdak suggested a white paper on central agency abuse.

“Their (BJP) government is running because of ED. Otherwise, they won’t be able to win elections,” Lok Sabha member Hansdak from Jharkhand’s Rajmahal constituency stated.

BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal called UPA corruption unprecedented in its 10 years. People will forget to repay debts under UPA, he warned.

Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM) stated the white paper is more bluster than substance in the argument.

The government should explain why average growth was 6.8% during the 10 years of UPA vs 5.9% during the NDA.

He stated the average fiscal deficit as a percentage of GDP was 4.7% under UPA control and 5.1% under NDA.

Average inflation dropped from 8% to 5% under the 2014 NDA government.

Mr. Owaisi also said the NDA administration benefited from low crude oil prices and challenged it to explain how demonetisation hurt the poor.

ET Mohammed Basheer, IUML MP, remarked, “This paper is for BJP, by the BJP, of the BJP and for the election of BJP.”
He added that the Congress-led UPA government passed Right to Information, Right to Education, and MNREGA for the poor.
