Actress Deepika Padukone and actor Ranveer Singh are reportedly expecting their first child. As per a report from The Week, Deepika is currently in her second trimester of pregnancy. According to the report, there were rumours circulating that Deepika might be expecting a baby as she apparently covered her midriff at the 77th BAFTA red carpet. Deepika dazzled in a shimmery saree and custom jewellery by Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the event.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika got married on November 14, 2018, at Italy’s Lake Como after being in a relationship for six years. Their paths crossed while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic movie Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. They went on to appear in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat as well. In November of last year, Ranveer and Deepika marked their fifth wedding anniversary in Belgium.
During an interview with Vogue Singapore in January, Deepika was questioned about her thoughts on becoming a mother. Deepika Padukone confirmed, “Absolutely. Ranveer and I love children. We look forward to the day when we will start our own family.”
When discussing her parents, she mentioned, “When I meet the people I have grown up with — my aunts, uncles, family friends — they always mention how I haven’t changed one bit. That says a lot about our upbringing… In this industry, it’s easy to get carried away by fame and money. But no one treats me like a celebrity at home. I am a daughter and a sister first. I don’t want that to change. My family keeps me grounded and Ranveer and I hope to inculcate the same values in our children.”
Deepika recently starred in the aerial action thriller film Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie also featured Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi in important roles. Her upcoming project is the sci-fi action thriller film Kalki 2898 AD, where she will star alongside Prabhas. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie features Amitabh Bachchan and is scheduled to be released in theatres on May 9, 2024.
Ranveer is set to reprise his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming cop drama Singham Again. The cast includes Deepika, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor. Ranveer is set to star in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, scheduled for release in 2025.
