In a liquor “scam,” Arvind Kejriwal receives his sixth ED summons and is called to appear on February 19.

The six summons have been issued following a recent Delhi court ruling, which stated that the AAP chief is obligated to comply with the complaint filed by the ED.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued another summons to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding an ongoing investigation into the recently revoked liquor policy. Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been summoned to appear before the central probe agency on February 19.
Kejriwal has been summoned by the agency for questioning on six occasions now. In the past year, he has been contacted multiple times, including on various dates in January, February, and November. The CM has consistently referred to these notices as “illegal”.
The sixth summons arrives just days after a Delhi court requested Kejriwal’s presence on February 17, in response to a complaint filed by the ED. The court observed that it appeared to be a legal obligation for the AAP chief to comply.

The complaint filed by the ED accuses the Delhi chief minister of deliberately ignoring the summons and providing “lame excuses.” The agency expressed concern that if someone in a position of authority were to disregard the law, it could potentially have a negative impact on the general public.

Based on the complaint and evidence presented, it appears that there is a potential offence under Section 174 of the IPC, and there are valid reasons to pursue charges against Arvind Kejriwal…

“Accordingly, issue summons to accused Arvind Kejriwal for the offence under Section 174 of the IPC for February 17, 2024,” the judge stated.

Kejriwal previously sent a letter to the ED, describing the summonses as “illegal and politically motivated”. He claimed that the actions were intended to hinder his ability to campaign in elections.
